| Is there a max length for antenna wire? I live in SF marina and reception here is very poor -- no line of sight to Sutro. Pacific Heights is a big close hill. I would like to cancel my cable, buy a new TV and antenna (which I can mount on my roof) and live off-air, but... I'm afraid to spend all the time and money without knowing how many channels I'll get. The run from the roof to my apt. will be at least 50 cable-feet. The roof of my building is about 55ft above ground level. | ||

Yes you can go 55 feet or longer. You will probably need a preamplifier which is a booster that you attach to the antenna and run the coaxial cable thru the unit. The preamplifier also comes with a base unit placed near your tv. You will also have to use the heavier duty RG6 cable. I live in Northern Minnesota and have a 70 foot tower for TV reception. My cable run is 100 feet, with a preamplifier and RG6 cable the tv works great. Any other questions you can email me at bres566@yahoo.com. Mike.
