Having trouble getting SMS and dialing to work properly via your Sony Ericsson? According to mobile.feisar.com, "Address Book has not been updated to support any new Sony Ericsson phones since...2003." However, that site has a great little app called "Address Book Enabler" available for ~3 USD (at the time of this posting) that fixes this issue. It's a quick and easy installation, and worked perfectly for my W580i.
