I'm wondering what's the bare minimum that is required for the source volume in order for the Migration Assistant to think it's valid?


For instance, rather than imaging the whole drive, I often just create a diskimage (from folder) of a user's home directory. I'd love to be able to use the Migration Assistant on just this folder, but that doesn't seem to work. So I'm guessing when it looks at the source volume, it must tap into the some other files that are outside of the user's home.


Any ideas?
