Thank you very much for this wonderful tutorial. My laptop is a Thinkpad G40, P4, 2.2GHz, 640MB RAM. It was already having XP Home. I was able to install Ubuntu 6.06.


I did not, however, understand some things. When I was installing Ubuntu after creating the partitions, why did I not come across the GRUB screen? Also, I did not get the "Operating System missing" error either.


Was it because I was doing it on XP Home instead of XP Pro and/Or was it because the 6.06 release has addressed many such issues?
