    There are going to be a few options, based on how you're transferring the video to your machine.

    • If you're using a webcam, then it should have come with video capture software. If not, check the manufacturer's website.

    • If you're using a DV camera, I recommend using Movie Maker, since it's free and does a good job.

    • If you're using a MPEG or file based camera, such as the Sanyo Xacti, you should be able to simply connect the camera and drag-drop the files.

    • Finally, if you've run out of options either download Microsoft's Windows Media Encoder (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/forpros/encoder/default.mspx) or do a search for "windows video capture software".
