i was pretty shocked to see that tip. using style sheets instead of transparent layout tables and the font tag can make your pages much smaller, reducing download time. the style sheet is (usually) only downloaded once and can control the layout/appearance of the entire site.


if performance is such a concern put the style sheet on a caching service like akamai.
