Is it essential to have Windows server of some kind when setting up roaming profiles or can I use my Win XP machines to do this.

  I was wondering the same thing. I have a desktop and laptop at home that I want to keep in sync. But I'm betting there are further complications in that my laptop has Vista (ugh) and my desktop has XP.
