There's no charge for audio and video conferencing. Also no need to sign up for Apple's mac.com service, as you can use a regular free AIM account as your iChat login. There is also no need to spring for an iSight camera, as there are lots of other camera options. The $10 program iChatUSBCam will enable pretty much any cheap webcam to work with iChat. I am using a Logitech camera, and I'm very happy with the image quality.
