I've attempted to install 802.11b in my home. I have a conventionally built recent home (i.e., now wire in the walls), and I have been unable to get two different manufacturer's systems to penetrate a distance of 40 feet that required going through one wall and one floor. I had similar results at my son's apartment. I had to return both sets of base and receiver units (D-link and Linksys).


I am surprised, given my experience, that more hasn't been written about the practical problem of installation in anything except line-of-sight scenarios.

        You could have replied more politely... The Editors should take note of such postings... One should be careful on how to express their feelings on public forums...
