I do find it interesting that all the *nix users on this site seem to rely on fink (child of debian's pkg manager), and not darwinports (child of freeBSDs port packages).


Darwin does have a complete implementation of freeBSD onboard.


Why the reliance on Debian?

    Probably because Debian's package management is one of the best out there. RPMs are horrible and Apple's doesn't have an un-install.

    The nice thing about Fink, is that it makes sure it's independant of the hosting system, this makes it very easy to export to other machines.
