Indeed, the several feet in size figure I give is based on printing at 72 dpi. But, my point is that when you are looking at full 100% pixels on screen, you are looking at the same detail that you would be on a physical print that is measured in feet. And you are looking at that detail at a viewing distance of 18-36 inches.


At 240dpi--a good print resolution for many inkjet printers--you can print a 12x18" print from the images made by the 5D.


Of course, printing and resolution is tradoff game--even when talking about "quality" prints. You can go quite a bit larger than a 12x18 print off a 5D image and get an amazing print. After all, when your viewer is further away from the image (which they will be for a big image), the lower the dpi you need to print at.
