I am having intermittant problems with my new IrisPen Express and I am wondering if the basic functionality is more reliable with the Executive or if it only has more features. Also did you have any luck scanning from an open book rather than a flat piece of paper?

  I don't know if the Executive version is any better at scanning from books, but given its seemingly more sophisticated scanning controls, I would guess you could tweak it to make it at least a little better.
