When considering a purchase here one of the first things to check is if the product is for use only in Japan. Some specs could be on the box even if you don't read Japanese you can see 100v. This indicates that it's only for Japan. 100-240v indicates that it's for worldwide usage.
Packaging failing check the display item and it's usually right on the product as well.


A good general electrical shop to go to would be something like Yodobashi Camera or Bic Camera which I believe are nationwide.
Yodobashi in my city, Fukuoka, has an excellent Mac section with all the new mac stuff. maybe you could visit www.yodobashi.com and search for "Mac" and get the listings. even if you can't read the prices come up in yen in red and the yellow would be the points you can get on your 'point card' (that could be good for return trips or a friend in Japan). points are good for about a year. with points from my powerbook I replaced an old printer for free and still had a few more points.
