  Introducing the Xircom 802.11 Module for the Visor
Subject:   unable to access internet once xircom connection is made.

I Have been trying out a xircom 802.11 visor module. I've tested it on two different systems.
One where it worked great! One not very well.
Both system are based on Apple AirPorts.

The working configuration is a graphite AirPort on Charter Pipeline via surfboard cable modem. NAT and DHCP are active. I was ammazed at the speed and simplicity of this system. Blaze was on fire here!

Well, I Had to have this for myself.
My configuration is the new Airport conected behind a speedstreams 5851 (efficient networks). The speedstream is responsible for NAT and DHCP so the AirPort is just bridging the wireless connections to the LAN and WAN. laptops (both PC and Mac) are running flawlessly over the wireless network. The wired and wireless LAN machines are sharing the same network and can communicate with each other without hassle. The Visor/Xircom combo will succesfully establish a wireless connection to the lan and will even perform a wireless HotSync over the Lan. But, when I attempt to connect to any internet resource (url: email, etc) I get timed out or "page cannot be displayed".

I'm guessing its a DNS issue. should I point my name server setting to the AirPort, speedstream, my ISP or right between my eyes?

any insightful ideas out there?

Ben

    ben,

    i would like to get some information from you since you are using the same speedstream router (5851); i am using this router and dsl line (for two laptops g3 and g4) from at@t and would like to connect airport base station; the airport connection was "connected to the internet via ethernet"; but everytime i tried to access a web page in netscape 6.2 the information was not available; should i connect router to the airport wan or lan?? or dsl line directly to the airport base; any help would be appreciated;
    thank you

    Ben,

    I scratched my head for a long time in a similar situation trying to use the SWE on a network that accessed the Internet using Internet Connection Sharing and a dial-up account.

    The solution was to enter the DNS server addresses provided by my ISP. To do this I had to enter a static IP address for the module, even though ICS ordinarily would provide the address using DHCP.
