The Apple WebCore browsers (Safari, OmniWeb 5) cannot display WYSIWYG HTML editors. My team needs those to use the CMS that our web presence is based on.
Firefox does display these editors nicely, so we use it.
However, Firefox 1.0.2 routinely stops responding to mouse clicks after about an hour on a fully updated Panther system. I have to force quit and re-launch it 6 times a day. Very irritating. Netscape also displays this behavior, so it would seem to be the underlying common code. I'm surprised this is not more discussed.
If Safari / OmniWeb under Tiger can display those HTML editors, I won't have much regular need for Firefox.
And for what it's worth, OmniWeb 5 is by far the best overall browser for OS X. Sure, it costs $30, but so what? You live half your life in it.
Furthermore, the extremely good DEVONthink and DEVONagent both have Webcore browsers in them. Some DEVON users don't even use a straight browser, just those personal info management apps. devon-technologies.com. No connection to any of these companies.
