Agreed, great article. And I have exactly the same question about synchronized audio/video tracks. Is that possible? I want to podcast lectures with synchronized Powerpoint/Keynote slides to iPod photo. But it isn't enough to just run the images for a fixed number of seconds; the slide transitions need to be synched to the lecture audio track. I know that SMIL format lets you do this. Wondering if iPod Photo can be made to support SMIL somehow.

  I have used ProfCast from Humble Daisy Designs with much success for recording podcasts of my psychology lectures. The slide changes are each recorded as a chapter track, and the audio syncs fine. I had a problem while evaluating the software (with bullet point transitions, the audio does not sync properly), and support replied immediately and accurately. They're working on a fix for this.
