This was my first exposure to the software, but I think there's free software out there that does the same thing (perhaps even better). They're Rainlendar and Rainmeter. Here are the websites:

They are both skinnable and expandable with plugins. I've been using them both for about a year without trouble. Plus they're open source ;-).
