Did you heard of pglogd ?
It's a very fast and compact tool to directly log from apache to postgresql: http://www.digitalstratum.com/pglogd/
Combine it with PL/R statistics (http://www.joeconway.com/oscon-pres-2003-1.pdf) and dynamically-generated GraphViz (http://www.graphviz.org/) and you have a killer-nearly-realtime-web-log-analysis combo... :-)
