Good point, JDMK has a slightly eye-popping price! To get started immediately, I guess you can download an evaluation version. I haven't tried any of the open source offerings, but many moons ago I did use the CMU code. Alas, I'm not on commission with Sun ;-(.

  What does the JDMK give me thats not in the JDK1.5 + jmxtools.jar ? I'm having a hard time discerning the value add...
