I too have the same problem - my external drive is not recognized. Does any one know of an update for various external DVD burners?

  Maybe this will help. I have the same Lacie burner and my G4 would not recognize the drive through itunes, I went to the Lacie website and found this driver update for Mac that fixed my problem. Here is the Link
