I currently have my massive music collection stored on a computer in my basement office, but often play the music through my PowerBook (via iTunes sharing) and the home stereo. At first glance, I think the Airport Express would fit my needs perfectly, but I would love to verify a couple things before I pick up one of those good looking power bricks...

2. Yes, you can do this. However, what will actually happen is: the music will stream from the computer in the basement to the PowerBook, the PowerBook will encode the music as Apple Lossless and encrypt it before sending it to the AirPort Express.
