I just purchased a new sony lcd 60" digital tv and I am getting all kinds of crazy digital channels without subscribing to them thru comcast. Is this normal? And if so, how do I tell what stations they are?

I went to sonystyle.com to search out a 60" LCD TV, and I couldn't find one. Sony does make a 60-inch plasma, the KDE-61XBR950, which does have an integrated ATSC tuner. Many 60" flat panels now include the digital tuner. Even you have a different set, it's likely that a TV of that size would include the tuner.

In addition to cable, you might be picking up an OTA digital channel. I suggest that you go to antennaweb.org, enter your address, and see if channel 79 is broadcasting a digital signal.
