Great article. I've always been curious about the scanning part of the equation. What is the best way to translate those physical papers into electrons for Mac os X? Is one of Brother's $100 multifunction machines (or something similar) enough to talk to Acrobat? Or (for purely home use) is a larger investment required?

I have an HP 1350 all-in-one and it seems to work fine. I've used both the HP scanning software and Acrobat to scan.

You can open up a graphic file from a previous scan in Acrobat - just be sure to Show "All Files" not just PDF files in the Open dialogue.

An inexpensive scanner will work fine. I'm using a Epson Perfection 2480 I bought this weekend for $99 (replacing an older scanner). Just make sure to get one that supports Mac OS X.
