Autor writed: Let's take a look at the numbers. For an 802.11b network, I have consistently achieved a data rate of 528KBps. This translates to 528*8 (bits) Kbps=4224 Kbps=4.125Mbps. Compare this to the advertised rate of 11Mbps; you can see that the effective data rate is actually much lower.
It's not true. First wireless I tested was Z-Com XI-626 as software ap and next Z-Com as client. The highest data throughput was about 650KBps (=5,2 Mbps) and that's correct. The 802.11b specifies data througput 11Mbps, but HALF DUPLEX => the FULL DUPLEX will be 5,5Mbps (5,5Mbps in one way, 11Mbps in both ways - input/output). That's only for precision ;)
