great explanation Eric, but why does MSIE for Windows not follow the specs? i wonder a lot more about the rendering of my web development on PC and Mac using MSIE rather than Netscape or Opera, or any other browsers, but why can't MSIE act the same on btoh platforms? thanks, john

  Looks like IE6 for Windows supports this as well. I tried the example given in the article with the CSS applying to text in a table. IE5.5 for Windows doesn't behave as described, but IE6 for Windows does.
