Do you think the heavyweight controls provided with ASP.NET (ie. DataGrid/List, Repeater etc) break the "Faster, Lighter" rule?


My experience has been that, while initially appealing, they encourage breaking MVC and quickly become complex when you need to extend them, as evidenced by this 16 part series just on DataGrid!
