I found that Spybot and Ad-aware together couldn't fully remove several homepage-hijackers (a particularly nasty strain of spyware) on a heavily infected machine.


CWShredder and JavaCool SpywareBlaster are two other free programs that were able to yank out some hijackers that Spybot and Ad-aware couldn't quite get. Power users should also check out HijackThis, which provides advanced control over Internet Explorer toolbars and extensions.
