What about these two excellent PVR open source solutions!!??: MythTV (http://mythtv.org/) and Freevo (http://freevo.sourceforge.net/) !!??

  MythTV, I've mentioned. I also got a note from Tony that there is a gentoo package for it -- "emerge mythtv". I haven't looked at freevo yet.
