Weblog:   Wanted: Cheap Metadata
Subject:   cool metadata accumulating
Date:   2004-05-27 09:21:54

It looks like Aaron Straup Cope has found and started accumulating some excellent subject-based metadata included with the web versions of New York Times stories; see http://aaronland.info/weblog/2004/02/07/5389/ and http://aaronland.info/nytimes/.

I'm going to start doing "View Source" on more news web pages to see who's populating their meta tags with what. For example, it looks like the O'Reilly Network weblog subjects are included there. A webcrawler that pulled those out and stored them in an RDF triplestore would really give the burgeoning semantic web apps something to chew on besides FOAF files.
