Because of the licence I have never been able to use MySQL. I work in a niche market where licence fees are not possible, however low. MySQL has marketing push. It isn't free (for everybody). These are the two differences with PostgreSQL. I also haven't experienced data loss with PostgreSQL since 1997. Some people I know who used MySQL can not say the same...
