Actually any Mouse with any number of bottons will work well in OS X, I use an intelliMouse Explorer and OS X allows programability for all those extra buttons...
OS X's Aqua GUI has no general problems its only that your point of view has you looking at it differently. Microsoft made headway with XP's Luna GUI, and supposedly "longhorn" will be even better, but as far as system stability and ease of use Mac OS X is still a decade ahead of Microsoft, and will be for the forseeable future...
