"Stop after x songs" isn't too hard to do: Create a smart playlist, select "Time is greater than 0:00" and set the playlist to a limit of "x" songs. Unfortunately, since there is no way to make smart playlists "refresh" (i.e., select new songs), you would have to make a new playlist each time you do this. Still, the "Refresh Smart Playlist(s)" feature is the one I'd like to see in an iTunes refresh; I'm apathetic regarding "Stop after x songs".
