Is there an easy way to upgrade sendmail to version 8.12.10 or would it be better to apply the patch? In either case, are you going to come out with some simple directions? By the way, Thanks for all the instructions so far. I have a personal web page up and I am running sendmail with qpopper on my Mac (OS 10.2.8). I have even set up email accounts for friends.   Apparently the OS 10.2.8 upgrade took care of the prescan function vulnerability in sendmail 8.12.9.
