His decrying of P2P is somewhat off-base, IMHO. Most of the problems with the technology are not technical. Bearshare and Limewire now offer most of the ease of use of Napster, three click and it's installed and connected to the network. The problem comes from another set of code, our current law. The haziness of the legality scares away more people that the actual technical limitations of the products. Once we have established a legal framework for some of these technologies they will take off like the rocket that was Napster. The money thing is a b.s. way to look at it (but that's what the WSJ is all about), the value created here isn't necessarily one that can be measured in straight monetary terms. Most likely the technology will lower the profit margins of most media compaines. That's what happen when supply outraces demand. The supply was previously limited by broadcasting rights, but the nature of Net is changing this as fast as I can type. (sorry for typos, no preview and what not)
