PHP is the perfect tool for hobbiest and fast developement of a small website from scrap.

JSP is the perfect tool for larger websites that need a lot of interactions with others technologies / parts.
It is also a perfect tool to reuse componants!

Personnaly I love JSP... But PHP is not bad.
