I wonder what recycling means in this case, I mean, is the chemical reaction a reversable one perhaps? Maybe the oxigen is only adsorbed to the opaque layer and all it takes is a bath in the right reagent or a trip to the vacuum chamber w/ the right color light shining on it to get the oxygen out of there and restore the transparency. That would be good business for the recycling company because there is no need to print a new disk just regenerate it and you only get the 48hours of viewing.
