I fail to understand how this idea makes DVDs any more environmentally friendly. I can't see people wanting to mail them back particularly if they are fundamentally useless. The fate of free CDs and free net access CDs is a case in point. I'm not sure I want to know how Disney, or anyone else for that matter might recycle them. From where I'm sitting, one of the fastest ways to increase DVD (and CD sales if anyone in the audio industry is paying attention) would be to drop the unit prices to a rational level and stop messing with them. For two movies, in the past three months I've seen the price vary from 13.99 right up to 39.99 (region 2). |
