In Address Book, you need to tick on the Bluetooth icon, upper left corner, which will enable the (grayed-out) SMS and Dial functions. Phil

  Just re-analysing all this for the upteenth time...I notice that in the Bluetooth setup assistant feature the "Use Address Book" and iSync radio options are also "greyed out".
  
  Does this mean the phone does not support this feature?

  I'd be using a G4 PowerBook, OSX 10.3.3, a Motorola V525 - have managed to pair the two and transfer files, but same "greyed out" SMS drop down even when I went through the pairing process again.
  
  Odd. Is the firmware on the phone outdated?
  
  Assistance appreciated.
