Hello, Can anyone out there give me specific directions on how to sync my Clie NX60 with Virtual PC 6.0 (running OS 10.2)? There are obviously many palm programs that cannot be run on Mac platform (i.e. anything with .exe file) and I have been trying for months to sync my Clie w/ VPC. Of note, I'm using PalmDesktop 4.0 on Virtual PC and have missing sync on my OS X desktop. Just can't seem to get it to work. Please help..... Thanks.

  Everyone out there seems to be making this WAY too complicated. Syncing your Palm device with PC programs through Virtual PC on the Mac (when using OS 10.2.6) is incredibly simple.
  
  Just set up the sync process as you normally would on the (Virtual) PC. Then, when you are ready to sync, DISABLE HotSync on the Mac... when the PC/Palm sync is complete, ENABLE the HotSync on the Mac - then you can sync data to/from the PC side to the Mac side using the Palm as the conduit, too.
  
  I spent hours (days?) looking for all kinds of tweaks and solutions and it finally occurred to me to try just shutting off the HotSync capability on the Mac and hitting the Sync button on the cradle. The system kept searching for someplace to sync the Palm with and found the (Virtual) PC HotSync.
  
  Works every time.

  Not to insult your intelligence, but what I think you are not understanding is that some people have already taken these steps that you are mentioning and there is something you are not explaining that allows it to work everytime for you and not for others.
  It didn't take me "hours (days?)" to figure out that I needed to DISABLE HotSync on the Mac. In fact, I managed to figure that out from the beginning, I managed to get VPC7 to recognize that the handheld is connected. In fact, it makes a sound every time I HotSync, but it does nothing with it.
  There is something different about your set up and others that allows it to work for you and not for others and that is what we would like to know.

  I have the exact same experience with my Palm Tungsten T5 and VPC7. Have you found a way to get the Palm to sync with VPC7 yet?

  This fails for me also, now with Virtual PC 7. I have a Palm Tungten E (USB hotsync), and *no* hotsync software on the Mac, just under Windows XP under Virtual PC. When I was at Virtual PC 6.1.1, I got it to work briefly after uninstalling and reinstalling all the Palm software, rebooting in between, etc., and then I started playing with settings in Hotsync. When I changed the Local Serial from COM1 to COM2 (or perhaps the other way around), it worked for about two days, then stopped. I have never had it working again.

  I'm having the same problem with VPC & HotSync.
  The virtual pc seems to recognize the Clie, but
  they can never sync.
  
  I'm running VPC 6.1 on OSX.2.4; my mac doesn't
  even have HotSync to enable or disable ... the only
  place HotSync appears on my computer is as a
  PC file.

  Hi.You make it sound so easy, but I'm still stumped!
  
  I have disabled hotsyn on the Mac, and have enabled USB in the VPC settings, but I still can't connect. Perhaps I haven't enabled hotsyn on on VPC? There doesn't seem to be a hotsync manager through VPC like there is on the Mac.

  I have the same problems, that I can not sync my clié NZ 90 with virtual pc 5.0 (Windows 98 / Outlook 2000). Even when I disable the hotsync manager on my Mac (OS 10.2.6) the sync doesn't work. I can see the Sony handheld in both the system settings / devices and the virtual pc usb settings. But it doesn't work. What do you mean saying "set up the sync process as you normally would on the PC"? Shall I use USB- or Com-Ports and if Com-Ports, which baud-ratings and other settings do I need.
  So please help a little German idiot. I was trying every setting you could imagine, I think.

  Initially I was having problems seeing the Palm USB cradle on the USB settings on Virtual PC even with OSX hotsync disabled. (I disabled Palm Desktop Background and Transport Monitor)
  
  Finally with Virtual PC running and the PC Palm desktop open, I pushed the hotync button on the cradle and then checked the USB Settings (commnd-T and then USB settings) under the enable USB Checkbox, Palm handheld will appear. You can then enable this.

  I had exactly the sam eproblems as all of you guys. I disabled the hotsync manager in the mac then tried to sync and it wasnt haveing any of it. But then I played around with it for a bit and got it to work. Basically I disabled the hotsync manager for the mac launched VPC then launched palm desktop in windows. Next i went to the tab that said hotsync clicked it and went to setup (sometimes its greyed out because the hotsync manager for windows hasnt started up yet. if that happens relaunch palm desktop and hopefully the hotsync icon will appear inn the bottom left hand corner) then switch in setup to com port 2 on all the windows and in the last one that say TCP IP setings or whatever check the book that has your user name then click the bottom that brings up a dialouge with an ip number like 192.63.56 etcthen click ok. Then click hotsync on the cradle. You may have to go into the USB sttings window for VPC as soon as youve done it and check to see if the cradle is checked even if it is it sometimes helps to uncheck it then check it again. Even though this works now it dosent always launch (tempremental) and dosent always finish the sync but at least it starts and it dose appear to work although i think the problem is that the VPC is ultra slow in OS X. Hope that helps people
