If that's the only way you can go to bed at night and sleep soundly, then more power to you. Don't worry about the fact that you're very, very wrong. The GPL has been brought up in only a couple court cases, and one in particular (MySQL vs. whoever, can't remember). In all instances the judge in the case never, ever questioned the legality of the GPL document itself, the train of thought in the court room went straight to "are they complying?"
