The problem with mainstream journalism is usually story selection - constrained by space, resources and the mission of the organization. But at least there is a well-established tradition of objectivity, accuracy and telling the whole story. (Also, a pretty clear line between opinion and fact-reporting).
Blogs, on the other hand, are not constrained in terms of what they write about or say - but have no requirements for the content itself. This is a compromise I'm not thrilled about.
