difference to soap and wsdl ?

grid based computing sounds interesting, on the other hand - at least for me - the outcome seems to be somewhat the same as if different web-services would interact via SOAP and/or WSDL or ebXML etc. or in other words / questions: will there be a soap-interface to space/grid-based computing, too - or are these architectures identical or do they somehow contradict ??
