This is still incredibly confouding. I am trying to move from PC and Mac and about to give up precisely because of the elaborate processes required. I have thousands of emails I'm hoping to import -- so this just doesn't work. Anyway, thanks for putting stuff up. It's always helpful.

  I too am now trying to switch from PC WIndows to MAC. What is the sucessful way to import .pst outlook into Entourage? I have 1000's of emails organized, and I'd like to transfer them.

  1) Open Outlook Express and import the mail folders from Outlook: File/Import/Messages. (This converts the messages in the Outlook .pst file into .mbox format. Using the Outlook Express import utility has the advantage of maintaining the date of the email, which would be lost using the export to a file function within Outlook.
  
  
  It will certainly sort out your issue.

  2) In Outlook Express, open an email folder, select messages and drag and drop into a Windows Explorer folder. (The messages will be appended with an .eml extension but they are in a Mbox format readable on Mac).
  
  
  3) Transfer the folder to the Mac (or open the folder on the Mac if the PC and Mac are networked).
  
  
  On the Mac
  4) Open Entourage. In the Mail folder create a temporary folder and drag and drop the Outlook Express .eml files into the folder (do not try to transfer more than 150 files at a time).
  
  
  5) The messages are now in Entourage, but each is in a separate folder. To put them in the appropriate folder (such as Inbox), you can search for and select all the messages, then drag and drop into the appropriate folder. Here’s how a) click on the temporary folder; b) go to Edit/Advanced Find from the drop down menu; c) Check the “Include subfolders” box and under Criteria select “Does not contain,” then put in any text not in your email subject line (for example: qqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqq). All messages should be selected and you can drag and drop to the appropriate folder. Delete the temporary folder, which will now be filled with empty folders.

  Hey gang...not trying to plug our products here, but i have a really cool work around if you are interested:
  
  I run VMware FUSION on my macbook pro.$79
  
  I run Outlook in my Windows XP Virtual machine.
  
  I run Entourage as my primary Mac Mail client.
  
  I exported my entire PST (2.2gb) from my older machine
  saved to usb drive
  plugged usb drive into my macbook
  fired up my VMware Virtual Machine
  Fired up OUTLOOK in my VM
  mounted the USB Drive
  File>OPEN>outlook data file
  pointed to the .pst file
  voila, it opens
  it takes an hour or so, but it imports the entire pst
  then, sync with our exchange server
  when you open up your Entourage, it too syncs with your exchange server
  all your folders, messages, contacts, etc pop into your Mac Mail client
  
  HOWEVER: this does assume you are receiving mail by and through an exchange server, however, the use of a virtual machine as a medium saved the day

  I know this is an old post but I am hoping that someone will read and reply...
  
  I am in exactly this situation, where importing using other methods are impractical because the user in question has over 3000 folders and subfolders and PST file is some 17GB in size.
  
  My question is, how do you force Outlook 2007 to upload/sync all mail to the Exchange server?
  
  Prior to now, mail was deleted off the server as it was received on the user's local machine, as he is by far the highest volume user in the office.
  
  One of the reasons we're switching him to Entourage is that his giant PST file was slowing Outlook to a crawl and hopes are that Entourage with different file formats will not suffer as badly from his high-volume usage.
