Perhaps you can help a rookie out: When entering a line such as: cd /usr/local/mysql the last "l" in "local" and the "/" that follow it merge into a weird symbol (like an l with a slash through it) This happened after installing Fink - and altering the ~.tcsch file... any suggestions?

  I've seen this too.
  
  I fixed it by changing to the Monaco CY font in the terminal. I still have not determined what the cause of the problem is.
