It sounds like you interpret our sale of T-shirts and related merchandise on ThinkGeek as some kind of desperate ploy for more revenue. But in fact, it's really just a convenience for our customers who want more T-shirts than they can get via our marketing promotions.

People have been asking us to sell our T shirts for years (we say that in our ads, and it's true), but we never had the cycles to produce, store, sell, and ship things besides books. And the warehouse we use for book shipping has a hard time with non-book items like T-shirts.

That changed when we connected with ThinkGeek. They serve many of the same customers we do, and their business is selling merchandise online. We do the design, and they handle manufacturing, sales, and fulfillment. It's a great partnership for us, and those O'Reilly T shirts are available for those who want them. And never fear, we're still giving away T shirts and other swag in promotions at tradeshows and in bookstores.
